Sanctuary Dogs

Our Sanctuary Dogs
"What lies behind us & what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Our sanctuary dogs are very special to us.  These are animals have been hurt so badly in their lives, or are currently ill, that we are unable to place them in regular homes.  They are therefore considered
"un-adoptable".  We love them dearly nonetheless.  Please consider donating to their medical care.

"Brandi"
**Sanctuary Dog**

Brandi is a 9 year old Labrador/German Shepherd mix. She is very shy and needs a quiet home with a fenced-in yard. Her ideal home would be one with women only and children or one with a quiet, understanding man who is willing to work with her fears around men. She has been in our foster home since she was 4 months old and has always been timid around men and strangers in general. She reacts strongly with other dogs and cats and therefore would be best placed in a home without other animals. She has been through basic obedience and a basic manners class, but her fears were not extinguished, only lessened. She is an incredible watchdog and very loving, once she has bonded with people.

"Vivian"
**Sanctuary Dog**

Vivian is a female Rottweiler who is between5 and 8 years old. Yes, we have no idea how young she is!! She bounces around like a puppy, but was sent to us with an age of 8. When she was at the shelter, another dog sliced through her right ear. The shelter personnel took her to a veterinarian for care and the veterinarian glued her ear together as it was a large thin slice. Unfortunately, Vivian had an allergic reaction to the glue and ended up with second degree burns in her face. She is recovering nicely and we have found that she enjoys, cats, men, women, and children of all ages. Vivian would do best as an only dog!
UPDATE: Vivian now plays outside with Nero Wolfe and one of the foster's own dogs!!! It only took her 6 weeks...
12/2011 UPDATE: Vivian was diagnosed with a mammary tumor.  We need your help to have the tumor removed.  Please donate to help this sweet girl.
September 2014 UPDATE: Vivian is on a home visit, congratulations Vivian!

Unfortunately, Vivian has passed away and is no longer with us. We loved her dearly and will always remember her.

"Obi Wan"
**Sanctuary Dog**
Emotionally Adopted by a loving family who knows that Obi deserves a family...even when he is sick.  Thank you Barb and Larry for opening your hearts to a sick animal. Obi has always wanted to be wanted and now he knows that he has a family of his own.  Bless You!
Doberman, black and tan, young!
Obi-Wan is a very friendly natural-eared black and tan Doberman. He is only 2 years old! Obi-Wan loves to play ball and run. He is presently being fostered by a family with another Doberman and a 12 year old child.  Obi is a great first Doberman.  He is laid back in the house, but can be active outdoors, if needed.  He LOVES to cuddle (as you can see in his picture).  Obi loves other dogs, is great with cats and adores kids.  Doberman's make great pets. Obi would love to be the one to show you how great Doberman’s can be!
UPDATE: Obi Wan was diagnosed with Stage III Follicular Lymphoma in February 2012.  Though he acts like a happy healthy Doberman, his prognosis is not good.  Please donate to Obi’s medical care. We love him so much and want to make him as comfortable as possible.

Obi Wan went to the Rainbow Bridge on Wednesday July 18th, 2012.  He was much loved by his foster mom, Laura, and many others!  We know that he is no longer suffering.  Until me meet again Obi....we love you!

"Dusty Rose"
 **Sanctuary Dog**
Dusty Rose is a 10+ year old Siberian Husky. She was given up by her owners because they where moving. She unfortunately now has double hip dysplasia, and has gone blind in her left eye.

"Tess"
**Sanctuary Dog**

Tess has been with Dream Paws when she was 7 months old. She came from a family with a 2-year old child and thy had no time for her. Even with three basic obedience and socialization classes, she remained fearful of children of all ages and some men and woman. at 1 1/2 years, she became our second sanctuary dog. Tess is now 6 years old
